Application for Visa to enter Guyana

Kindly check Schedule 1 at the end of this document to find out whether you require a visa to enter Guyana before completing an application.

Applications for Business, Student, and Employment visas MUST be submitted online to the Immigration and Support Services, Ministry of Home Affairs of Guyana. All applications should be completed at http://eservices.doc.gov.gy/.

The Consulate General will consider applications for prior entry for tourist visas for applicants who satisfy the requirements outlined below:

General Guidelines issued to Applicants
  • A Tourist visa is valid for (1) month for a single entry.
  • The VISA application form must be completed and submitted to the Consulate General for Guyana, your original passport must also be submitted at the same time.
  • A passport MUST have a minimum of six months validity beyond the date of intended departure from the country you are applying from and should have at least two blank pages.
  • It is essential that applicants fill in their personal details as indicated in their passports. A mismatch of any of the personal details would lead to non-acceptance of the application. Passport in original and photocopy of the first five pages, visa page, and address page to be submitted.
  • Copy of Residence or ID card issued by country of residence with a minimum of six months validity
  • The application form should be filled in English only and ensure that all columns are filled neatly and correctly. Incomplete applications and those which lack details will be summarily rejected.
  • You must provide the airline ticket reservation so that we are aware of the arrival time and departure from Guyana. Kindly include the details of your intended address in Guyana, i.e. if you will stay at a Hotel, please mention the Hotel details (name - address - telephone number), if you will stay at your friend's home please provide the address, name and contact numbers or a letter from that person confirming these details.
  • Each visa application is considered on its merits and the Consulate General may ask for additional information at any stage during the processing of the application. Submission of application along with prescribed fee does not guarantee issuance of visa.
  • The validity of all visas is counted from the date of the issue of the visa and not from the date of entry into Guyana.
  • The Consulate may ask for additional documents if needed, while reviewing the visa application.
  • The Visa fee is non-refundable.
  • If you are married to a Guyanese, please submit the evidence of such
  • The Consulate General reserves the right to reject any visa application without providing a reason.
Documents Required
  • Original and one (1) copy of duly filled and signed visa application form.
  • Two recent standard Passport photos with white-colored background (Scanned photos are not allowed & photos must be taken within the last 6 months).
  • Original Passport with at least (6) months validity and two blank pages.
  • TT$300 visa fees paid in cash.
  • A copy of the flight itinerary with proof of return/onward travel.
  • Evidence of sufficient funds for the duration of the visit/proof of other satisfactory arrangements for support while in Guyana, inclusive of a letter of invitation from the host in Guyana if not staying at a hotel or hotel reservation (which is applicable).
  • A copy of the hotel reservation in Guyana.
  • Recent bank statement; letter from employer (where applicable)
  • Travellers from countries with a risk of yellow fever transmission (except for Argentina, Paraguay, Suriname, and Trinidad & Tobago) should either: present their international yellow fever vaccination card with their application or ensure that they are vaccinated ten (10) days before they arrive in Guyana and have their cards to show at the port of entry.

Failure to provide proof of vaccination at the port of entry will result in denial of entry.
Documents not in English must be submitted with an official translation.

Submission: please book an appointment to submit your application and supporting documents. You would need to pay the required fee at this stage. Please note that fees are non-refundable.

Processing time: minimum of 5 working days if the required documents and information provided by the applicant are satisfactory.

Note

  • There is no assurance that a visa would be issued, and any preparation or plan made for the journey would be done at the applicant’s own risk.
  • Failure to complete the form properly as well as providing supporting documents will delay the processing of applications.
  • Under normal conditions, applications for visas should be submitted at least one (1) week in advance of the proposed date of travel.
  • The granting of a visa does not necessarily guarantee entry into Guyana. Entry and length of stay in the country will depend upon satisfying the usual Immigration requirements/procedures at the port of entry.
  • A visitor who without permission, breaches his/her condition of entry while in Guyana may become eligible for deportation.

Guyanese Citizens

A Guyanese citizen travelling on a foreign passport does not require a visa if the passport clearly indicates the place of birth to be (Guyana) or a well-recognized place in Guyana such as Georgetown, Demerara, Essequibo, Berbice, or Corentyne.

If this is not the case, documentary proof of birth in Guyana must be presented to the Immigration authorities in Guyana, such proof being a birth certificate (both birth and marriage certificates in the case of a married woman) or an expired Guyana passport.

A child born of a Guyanese parent and presenting as documentary evidence a birth certificate (full version giving names of parents) and the birth certificate or Guyana passport of the Guyanese parent, does not require a visa. It will be necessary, however, to have some documentary evidence for the Immigration authority upon arrival in Guyana.
